I like Seattle. I like visiting Seattle. I just don’t like getting stuck in Seattle and spending an extra day in Seattle when I should be home.
After the Big Ice and Snow Storm of 2008 shut down Tri-Cities Airport on Sunday, I finally made it home today, just 26 hours later than normal.
This photo is my water bottle sitting in the snow on top of my car at the airport parking lot. I had about 8 inches of snow and a 1/2-inch sheet of ice covering my car when I reached the parking lot.
Three other car-in-snow-and-ice photos:
Toyota Snowmobile
Inside the Igloo
Digging Out
It took me about an hour overall to get the car dug out, but that included about 10-15 minutes helping an older lady nearby who was in the same predicament as me.
So good to be home….

If you’re finding this site from the Tri-Cities Visitor & Convention Bureau’s annual Visitors Guide — welcome! My name’s Matt and I’m a Tri-Cities resident since 1994. MattMcGee.com is very much a work-in-progress at the moment, so pardon the sparse content.
It’s a real honor to have some of my photos selected for use in the Visitors Guide, esp. since I’m not a professional photographer! I do love photography, though, and have sold pictures to a couple organizations recently. If you’d like to see more of my photos, here are a few links to the Flickr photo sharing web site:
Feel free to look around and leave a comment if you see a photo you like!

I’m using a Mac program called Mars Edit to post this one. It seems pretty intuitive, but also seems to lack some of the controls I like using in the standard WP admin system. Like, I can save this as a draft, but I don’t think I can schedule it for later posting. That’s a bit of a problem.
The preview function is nice, and it’s super-easy to insert a photo straight from my Flickr stream, Like this:
I can assign a category or add new categories. But I don’t see any way to add tags, which is what this WP template is based on.
Better keep playing around with this one a bit….
