Here’s everything I blogged over the past week, a few of which were written in advance and scheduled to publish while the McGee 4 were on vacation.

Should be back to a somewhat normal schedule this week, although I do have a couple days in Portland coming up.

Here’s a little food advice from me to you, something you can take advantage of on that grocery store visit you’ll be making this weekend: If you like grapes (and who among us doesn’t?), you need to know that
- the best grapes in the world come from Chile, and
- they’re probably in your store now, but won’t be around much longer.
I’m sure it has to do with planting seasons and geography and all that, but Chilean grapes are always the first ones to arrive in your store’s produce section. California grapes will be there soon, but California grapes don’t taste nearly as good as Chilean grapes. Trust me.
So, buy yourself some Chilean grapes — and the really, really sweet ones have a nice, yellowish tint to them (kinda like the image above).
You’re welcome.

Part of the family vacation last week involved taking the kids down into Philadelphia to see the historic sites — Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, National Constitution Center, etc. It was a great, great day and a good time was had by all. Perhaps more about that stuff later, but the point of this post is to share the … interesting … directions we got from Google Maps and the “Street View” tool.
The trip began in Bristol, PA, where my parents live. I could easily get down to the historic district, but wasn’t sure on some of the last couple turns to find the right parking lot. Here’s how Google helped:
On exiting I-95, we’re apparently supposed to drive through this concrete wall on the way to Independence Hall, causing certain death for the McGee 4. Oddly enough, I don’t even recall seeing this concrete wall at this location. Later, there’s this:
As we get closer to Independence Hall, we’re supposed to turn right and take out a group of tourists, including one in a wheelchair. Nice!
I’m sure there’ll be more funny Street View directions as Google expands this feature in more and more cities…..

Found myself a good Interweb connection today and had some last-day-of-vacation fun by playing around on my fave social sites while it rained all day long. Here’s what I submitted over the past 24 hours or so:

There ya go.

How’s this for irony? I’ve been on Twitter for almost two weeks now, and Google … finally … recognizes that I am (was?) the LAST PERSON ON TWITTER:
Better late than never, I suppose, although it would be nice if I could find another 168 people to follow me … and quick! The first-person-to-500-followers contest is still going on, and I have about 75 more followers at the moment than Jeff Quipp.
What’s sad is that not even a mention on the LA Times’ Internet blog added any followers to my account! Crazy stuff.
So, the takeaway here is easy: if you’re not doing so already, please follow me on Twitter!

This is the cover of the May, 2008, edition of Seattle Magazine, which has what looks like a really cool cover feature on the great places and sights along the Washington and Oregon coast line.
Heck, the whole magazine looks nice — never saw an issue of this one before, but if I lived in Seattle, I’d be tempted to subscribe. So, why do I have a copy here at home, and why am I showing it here on the blog?
Because I mentioned a month ago that I sold another photo, and it’s in this issue. w00t!
See image below. It looks good, n’est-ce pas?

What a week this was. Absolutely nuts, for so many reasons. I did manage to push out a fair amount of blog posts, including one about the main reason things were so crazy.

There will be a dramatic slowdown in blogging soon, because I’m going to be going offline for a little while. That should be … strange.
