Where was Simple Minds my whole life?
I knew their 5-6 biggest songs, but never bought an album. So about 2-3 weeks ago, I made a Spotify playlist based on their recent concerts…and it was sooooo damn good. All kinds of great songs I’d never heard before.
It made for a great show last night in Seattle. Jim Kerr’s voice has aged beautifully.
Modern English was great, and I got to hear “I Melt With You” live. Soft Cell’s not really my thing, but it was cool hearing “Tainted Love” live.
So good to see and hear live music again after a 7-month break. Making this even more enjoyable — Cari went to the show with me! ❤️
Oh, and I should mention, too, that we sat two rows behind Seattle Mariners GM Jerry DiPoto and his wife, which was pretty fun. He was following the Mariners’ game on his phone in between each set. Then, at the end of the show, I gave him a high-five as they walked up the stairs past us.
