    And the Best Burger is…?

    September 6, 2010

best-burgersWell, it’s a tie. And that solves absolutely nothing in the long-running debate I’ve had with my buddy, Phil. I’ve made no secret in the past of my undying love and devotion for In-N-Out Burger. Phil, however, has always insisted that Five Guys is where it’s at.

I’ve never had (or even seen) a Five Guys burger, so I can’t argue one way or another. And maybe it’s a moot argument, anyway. Because, in the current issue of Consumer Reports, my favorite fast-food burger and Phil’s favorite fast-food burger tied in a survey of 28,000 readers. See the image at right for the full list. (You can click the image for a more readable version.)

I’m kinda surprised that Carl’s Jr. ranked so well. I think they’ve gone downhill in the past few years. Wendy’s burgers are really good (fresh meat, just like In-N-Out) and they should be higher. And Jack-In-The-Box deserves better, too, if only for the amazing deliciousness that is the Ultimate Cheeseburger.

For what it’s worth, In-N-Out won a Zagat survey last summer on this very topic.

Also worth noting: Five Guys is apparently coming to Spokane sometime soon, so maybe one of these days I’ll be able to reply to Phil about whether his burger is better than mine.

    In-N-Out FTW!

    June 11, 2009

innoutWho else would you expect to win in Zagat’s annual fast food survey? Of course, none other than In-N-Out Burger, the best fast food burger on the planet!

In-N-Out earned “Best Food” and “Best Service” among Large Chains (up to 5,000 locations), and also won Best Burger overall. Yes, indeed.

My last In-N-Out Burger meal happened on April 21, and my next one will probably be in October … unless I go to SES San Jose in August. But I doubt that’ll happen, so it’ll have to be October. And yes, it’s completely normal to track In-N-Out visitation like this. Shush now.

    Here’s the full survey.
