Back in 2012, The Fixx came to little old Richland WA and played a show at Jackson’s Sports Bar, which probably had space for no more than ~50 people.
Now, this was one of my top ’80s bands and I had never seen them live. But I absolutely wore out the vinyl for their 2nd and (especially) 3rd albums.
But take a guess who has two thumbs and decided not to go for some stupid reason?

So, I’ve been trying to make up for that ever since. But each time they’ve come to the PNW — which has been maybe 3-4 times since 2012 IIRC — I’ve been out of town or unable to get over to SEA, PDX, or wherever.
Fast forward to a couple months ago (or rewind depending on where you are mentally), and The Fixx announces tour dates that include shows in both SEA and PDX the first week of August.
YAAASSSSSSS!!!!!! I am so there!!!
And then I check my calendar…Cari and I are at a real estate conference in Southern California while The Fixx are up here.
JFC of course they are!! FML!!!! %$@#!$#%!$#
But then…a lightbulb went off over my head. Maybe I could go see them somewhere else right before/after our trip.
Turns out they’d be in SoCal a couple days before Cari and I needed to be there. TAAAA-DAAAAAAA!!!!!! ![]()
So I flew down a couple days early and went to see my first Fixx show with my awesome friend, Dan, in San Diego. (It was El Cajon, technically.)
And they were terrific!! Unlike a lot of the shows I see these days, it was the entire original lineup!! And they sounded fantastic. Played for about 90 minutes and hit most of what I could’ve hoped to hear.
I still beat myself up over skipping the 2012 show, but this was well worth the wait. I’ll go see them again next chance I get.
