Cari is not a big fan of live music. She’s not one to go to concerts. I almost always ask if she wants to go to the shows I’m gonna see, and she almost always declines. It’s just not her thing, and that’s okay.
But you can imagine my surprise when, not only did she find out that Toad the Wet Sprocket was playing in Seattle before I knew about it, but she also wanted to go with me to see them!! I’m sure it’s because we saw them together in Spokane a couple years ago — a great, great show in a little 750-seat theater.
Last night’s show had a bit of a different vibe. It was at Moore Theater, which is more than twice the size of the Spokane show. It was also a longer show — two opening acts instead of one, which added to my surprise that Cari wanted to go.
Still…I’d see Toad anywhere in just about any circumstances, and this show didn’t disappoint.
I wasn’t familiar at all with The Jayhawks, but they put on an enjoyable show. The first opener of the night was Sixpence None the Richer, who I was really excited to see. I enjoyed them during their ’90s heyday, so it was cool to hear “Kiss Me” and their other songs live.
