    I’m Cold

    May 27, 2010

coldLike, all the time. It’s the end of May, the temp was in the mid-60s today, and I’m bundled up in jeans and two shirts. I tried to wear shorts and a polo shirt around the house today, but no; had to put on warmer clothes.

Cari says it’s because of the weight loss. There’s less fat to keep me warm this year. (I’m currently at 33 pounds lost even though I stopped trying after reaching my 26-pound goal.)

She might be on to something. I’ve been cold for about two months now, and that’s how long it’s been since I reached my goal.

Still, weird. Don’t like. Ready for an 85-degree day, and the sooner, the better.

    Hotter than…

    August 1, 2009

hotI doubt the temp has gone down at all in the 10 minutes since I took this screenshot. Probably gone up, in fact. Checking … no … okay, still says 108 degrees.

I know Seattle and Portland had a little burst of 100+ temps, but we’ve been at or above 100 for about three weeks now. If I wanted to live in weather like this, I’d move to Death Valley.

Enough already! Look at that cooling trend — 20 degrees less by Thursday. Can’t come soon enough, I say.

    Visiting the McGees? Try April

    April 19, 2009

Our friends and family are welcome to visit us at any time of year, but if you’re smart and thinking ahead, you’ll come visit in April. I think it’s gotta be the best time to come see us. Here’s why:

If you come visit us in April, you’ll be able to see…

    our tulips in bloom

    Tulips Galore!

our cherry trees starting to blossom

    Cherry Blossom #2

the magnolia tree/bush in full bloom

    Magnolia in full bloom

the lilacs in all their purple glory

and our crazy dog enjoying the warm weather

    Attack!

So, yeah, this has gotta be the best month to come to West Richland and visit. Cari has always said that spring is her favorite time of year. That’s partly because her birthday is in spring, but I think the above also has a lot to do with it.

    Haircuts & Lawn Care

    March 29, 2009

Those are two things I really can’t stand doing, but love when they’re done. I love my hair super-short, and I love my lawn looking freshly cut. It’s just the actual haircut and the lawn mowing that I don’t like much.

In any case, despite predictions of a weekend full of rain and high winds, today was almost perfect … and plenty good for the first lawn cutting of the year.

Maybe best of all, the lawn mower started right up with a new tank of gas and last year’s oil. Gotta go get some new oil, though. After the lawn, I fixed two sprinkler heads that needed to be capped, and ran out to Home Depot to buy some much-needed tools.

    Spring is most certainly here.

Only downside is that I’m dead tired and sore from head to toe. I’m gonna pay the price tomorrow for this sudden burst of energy. Good thing Sean’s just about old enough to start cutting the lawn. One more summer and then it’s all his….

Google Lip Balm helps me survive the bitter cold

    December 17, 2008

One of the Tri-Cities is Kennewick.

Kennewick is an Indian word thought to translate roughly to “land of mild winter.”

For the past week, the Tri-Cities has been more like Antarctica. We hit -6 last night. We haven’t been above 25 degrees since last week. And the bitter cold is supposed to last another 4-5 days.

Luckily for me, I have official Google Lip Balm to get me through the cold!

And get this: It’s vanilla-flavored! Yummm!

Best of all, if it’s cold where you are now, too, you can buy some of this stuff, too. 🙂
